Today was a supposingly easy day – 20 miles more or less downhill to Red’s Meadow which would get us into Mammoth for food and rest 😊
Starting at 11,000ft gave us another beautiful morning in the High Sierras…

The further we dropped down the warmer it got and also the scenery changed again. It’s amazing how you can feel the difference with almost every minute. Amazing how sensitively balanced our ecosystem is – a couple hundred feet in elevation and with this a slight change in temperature decide over life or death of certain species.

Late spring down here!

The clouds which had given us thunderstorms and hail the last couple of days pushed in earlier every day. Also today. So we got rained on at around 12 already. Time to get out!

My legs are getting more and more painful. I have definitely developed some stage of shinsplint or stress fracture – now also in the right leg. Ibuprofen helps but going downhill for a long time makes the pain extremely annoying. I hope a bit rest in Mammoth will help…

The bus dropped us off in Mammoth directly in front of the “Jodler”. I couldn’t resist…
