I got up early and left at 5.30 to make it as early as possible to the meeting point with Bangerang – hoping for him to still be there. The morning again was beautiful. The desert provides epic sunsets and sunrises…
I had 8 miles to cover with a few longer ups and downs. The trail was – appropriate to the desert we arencurrently in – made of soft sand. It sucked! It was like walking on the beach – only uphill and with a backpack on… So I ended up running the last 2 miles to make up the time I lost on the sand. And when I finally got there I had to find out that Bangerang had already left at 5am. That sucked even more – all the running for nothing…
Well, at least there was enough water. So I found a place in the shade, napped abd killed some time with photo editing until the rest of the crew caught up at around 12. We extended the break until 3pm because of the heat. I had a 7h break after 8 miles… 😂😂😂 New record!!!
The last bit of the day was an almost 2,000ft climb.
But it was worth it – first real view of the snow covered Sierras!
And Zorro was also here 😉
