After saying good bye to Breann and Jay after our last joint breakfast I made my way back to the train station.
Breann’s knees are not getting better so she has to figure out with the doctors on how to continue – unfortunately!
So I went back to Johnsonville where I had to stop yesterday and made my way back to the trail. I guess it’s a first taste of the North Island – a lot of road walking…
I passed some of the nicer suburbs with beautiful houses. Some of them I would have moved in directly. I also passed another golf course which reminded me that I have to get on another one before my beard is to long and they won’t let me on anymore ?
Funny enough I had a lot of animal encounters on the way…
Made my way over Colonial Knob which gave amazing views over the Tasman Sea, Wellington and the Cook Straight and also my path ahead.
I descended down to Porirua and started to sort out where to stay tonight. Unfortunately the only campsite on the way was closed and the only backpackers full. So I continued as far as I had daylight and took the train to Pararaumu which was my tomorrows destination and with available rooms.
So back with the train tomorrow and doing the missing stretch – luckily without the backpack now ?
